Almanarre Beach in Hyères

With over 5 kilometres of sand and turquoise waters, Hyères' longest beach is a must-see. Facing a protected bay, this long, narrow beach is ideal for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

La Madrague beach in Giens

This small, sandy beach near the port of La Madrague, opposite the Ile de la Redonne, offers a remarkable view over the harbour at Carqueiranne. It's just a short walk away.

La Bauma beach in Hyères

With its generous pine forest and lovely views over the other beaches of the Giens peninsula and the Hyères harbour, it offers a magnificent setting. Take the coastal path, which leads to a number of small coves, before arriving.

The Argent beach in Porquerolles

With its fine white sand, crystal-clear waters and shallow depths, it is particularly popular with families. A magnificent pine forest completes this dream landscape.

Port Man beach in Port-Cros

This beach is the largest on the island. It is also the furthest from the village of Port-Cros. What makes it so successful? A sublime panorama and a location that shelters it from the winds.

Langoustier beach in Porquerolles

Sheltered from the sales and the swell, it is reserved for the courageous who will have to walk 4.5 km to reach it. This Porquerolles beach is divided in two. There is the Plage Blanche du Langoustier to the north, with its white sand, and the Plage Noire du Langoustier, with its greyish gravel.

La Palud beach in Port-Cros

This is a small beach of coarse sand bordered by tamarisk trees and a reedbed. This is the starting point for the underwater trail, which is ideal for snorkellers keen to observe a wide range of species.

The city

Hyères is the southernmost town in Provence, and benefits from exceptional sunshine, making it a popular destination all year round. It has nothing in common with seaside resorts that are only alive for a few months of the year. It's a dynamic, engaging town with a history and traditions that are still very much alive. Whether you come for a weekend or plan to spend your summer holidays here, Hyères has plenty to offer.

Hyères Castle

Head for the Castéou hill to admire the remains of Hyères castle, listed as a historic monument since 1926. From here you can enjoy an exceptional panoramic view of the town.

The ramparts

Few people know that Hyères was once a fortified medieval town. History buffs can follow in the footsteps of the ramparts and walls that once protected the inhabitants.

The Templar Tower

Both a chapel and a guardroom, this unusual historic monument takes us back to the time of the Knights Templar, a religious and military order that had a strong presence in Hyères in the 12th and 13th centuries.

Obius-Riquier Park

It offers 7 hectares of lawns and flowery paths right in the heart of Hyères. A great place to take a stroll after a day of water sports or a morning jog.

The old town

Old churches, pastel-coloured facades, a village atmosphere... The old town and its charming little cobbled streets are well worth a visit. Go there for an ice cream and feel the pulse of the historic heart of Hyères.

Villa Noailles

Another historic monument... Built in the 1920s, it is an emblematic building of modern architectural heritage. Today it houses an art centre that is a must-see.

The archaeological site of Olbia

This listed archaeological site features the Roman and medieval remains of what was once a major maritime trading post, including thermal baths, settlements and sanctuaries.

The Pesquiers salt marsh

Situated between two sandy coastal strips known as tombolos, this 550-hectare natural site plunges you into the history of salt mining since Antiquity. Now that mining has ceased, the site has once again become a small paradise for the local fauna.
