Are you spending your holidays on the Côte d'Azur? Why not escape to Provence Verte for a day... Our tour of the Var takes you through some of the most beautiful villages in the hinterland. Landscapes, architecture, atmosphere, smells... We'll take you on a discovery of the authenticity and traditions of Provence!

Le Val,
typical little village in the Var
Just over fifty kilometres from Hyères lies our first stopover. Le Val lies in a long, narrow valley, between two ranges of pine and scrub hills. At the heart of the village is a beautiful Romanesque church, with the clock tower and its delicately crafted campanile beside it. All around are roofs of soft pink tiles. Further on, a sinuous line of greenery leads down to the river. It's a checkerboard of vineyards, olive groves and gardens, punctuated by old fortified towns.

Discovering
of the Var vineyards
The second stop on your tour of the Var is a visit, on foot or in a horse-drawn carriage, to an exceptional vineyard. We'll take the opportunity to taste the different wines and olive oils. Some vineyards offer the option of a visit by electrically-assisted bicycle, another way of exploring the vineyards and soaking up the scenery.

Picturesque lunch
in Cotignac
After these tasty discoveries, we'll head for Cotignac via tiny roads through sublime scenery, rivers, vineyards, olive groves and old fortified towns. Then it's time for lunch in the village square, in the shade of the plane trees, in a typical Provençal atmosphere. You'll be plunged into a novel by Marcel Pagnol... We'll be sure to show you around the village, its narrow streets, its troglodytes and its 17 fountains...

An afternoon dedicated to
to the most beautiful villages in the Var
Then, take a drive along the paths to Entrecasteaux and Tourtour, a village perched at an altitude of 635 m, "the village in the sky of Provence". The stone houses topped with round tiles, the Place des Ormeaux, the vaulted passageways and sun-drenched alleyways... It's all there!

Last stage,
Le Thoronet Abbey
We'll be visiting a jewel of Cistercian architecture: Le Thoronet Abbey. A place of meditation and thought renowned for its incredible acoustics - talk about a sonic miracle! With your eyes full of images and your taste buds full of smells and tastes, it's time to return to your place of residence via the picturesque roads of our beautiful country.
